As Chief Financial Officer, Jeff oversees the financial operations for Minestar Group. He has overseen financial operations in various corporations for close to a decade – ranging from construction, equipment and industrial service focused entities. Coupled with a certified professional accounting designation and computer science major from the University of Alberta, Jeff has made key contributions in all areas including managing risk, building systems, developing strategy and leading high performing teams. His efforts have attributed to fast growing corporations, twice awarded a spot-on Alberta Ventures Fast 50 list with average annualized Return On Equity (ROE) in excess of 80%.
Jeff’s prior experience as a Vice President of Finance and shareholder for a successful start-up saw him raise various forms of capital, create effective business intelligence, performance measurement systems, strategic planning systems and corporate governance. Jeff eventually took on an ownership position and played a central role in the strategy execution that saw the eventual acquisition to a TSX listed corporation. In 2015 and 2016, he successfully navigated the worst Alberta recession in over 30 years through detailed financial modeling, treasury and cost management. His efforts kept a mid-size construction company successfully funded, where he engaged in valuable tax planning, corporate re-organization efforts, contract negotiation, capital raises and systems implementation.
In addition to managing financial operations, Jeff has taken minority business positions in exciting technology companies, where he has assisted in strategy execution. He has sat on various financial committees and has gained valuable experience from the board room to the ground level. Producing smart results motivates him and engaging with people sustains him.
