Giles Walsh was appointed Chief Operating Officer in April 2017. In this role, Giles is responsible for all of the operations and many of the corporate services at Minestar. Prior to assuming this role Giles was Senior Vice President of Minestar’s Maintenance services division.
Previously, Giles has served as Vice President of Operations for a large General Contracting company. He played a key role in the transition team of an international joint venture and implementation of a major Alliance Contract in the oil sands. This was recognized in 2009 when he received the Presidents Operational Excellence Award. Giles was also the companies North America representative in the Global Centre of Excellence Network. Before coming to Canada Giles oversaw and lead the Major Turn Around Services group before being tasked to lead the execution of a >$1 billion upgrade project of Australian naval frigates. He was an influential factor in the successful recovery of what was a high-profile and previously troubled project.
Prior to joining Minestar, Giles was COO/SVP for an Industrial Company, completing the R&D phase of a new technology development before successfully orchestrating the subsequent commercial launch of the technology into the oil sands industrial services market.
Giles completed his Mechanical Engineer Traineeship in Australia with a multi-national resource and energy company as well as completing post graduate studies in Business Management. His career demonstrates his continual learning philosophy and adaptable leadership style, reflecting his simple and effective approach to meet the challenges that our fast paced and constantly changing industry creates.
